This article discusses the rebates available to consumers for purchasing fuel efficient vehicles. The program starts on this coming Monday. I would caution consumers to be wary of dealers who act like they're giving a discount on the price when consumers get the rebate. Remember, this program costs the dealers nothing.

NY Times Editorial on Consumer Protection

I've heard Elizabeth Warren speak before, she's absolutely brilliant and recognize the emerging problems long before any of the politicians or financial executives did.

The article also says that they're being sued in Georgia for violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. So far, I don't see anything happening at the Florida Attorney General's office.

NAF enjoined from conducting credit card arbitrations

The Minnesota Attorney General sued the National Arbitration Forum alleging false advertising and unfair and deceptive trade practices. As part of the settlement agreement, NAF has agreed to cease conducting consumer credit card arbitrations. In our office we have seen a pattern and practice by certain debt buyers of filing time barred debt collection claims in arbitration through NAF, obtaining default arbitration awards, and seeking to enforce those awards in our local Courts.

The press release from the Minnesota Attorney General is here:http://http://www.ag.state.mn.us/Consumer/PressRelease/090720NationalArbitrationAgremnt.asp
